The Mind Game

Toen hij pas 14 was, vluchtte Sajid Khan Nasiri in zijn eentje uit Afghanistan. Na een reis van twee jaar vol gevaar en ontberingen - die hij gedetailleerd vastlegde met zijn telefooncamera - arriveert hij in België. Daar begint een heel nieuwe worsteling.

Leuven: Op woensdag 3 juli verwelkomen we SOS Kinderdorpen in onze zaal voor een speciale vertoning van The Mind Game. Hoofdfiguur Sajid Khan gaat na de film in gesprek met Hilde Boeykens en Katrien Goossens van SOS Kinderdorpen en een transculturele psychotherapeut over de enorme mentale druk van een dergelijke reis op kinderen, het wantrouwen van de Belgische autoriteiten en de strijd om erkend te worden als vluchteling. Voldoende stof tot nadenken om nadien te bespreken op de aansluitende receptie (gratis voor elke tickethouder).

When he was just 14, Sajid Khan Nasiri fled Afghanistan on his own. After a two-year journey full of danger and hardships, which he documented in detail with his phone camera, he arrives in Belgium. There, a whole new struggle begins.

Leuven: On Wednesday, July 3, we welcome SOS Children's Villages to our hall for a special screening of The Mind Game. The main figure, Sajid Khan, will discuss with Hilde Boeykens and Katrien Goossens from SOS Children's Villages and a transcultural psychotherapist about the enormous mental pressure of such a journey on children, the distrust of Belgian authorities, and the fight to be recognized as a refugee. Plenty of food for thought to discuss afterward at the following reception (free for every ticket holder).
