In the year 2094, the ambitious filmmaker Kuvi travels to the village of Umata to film the aftermath of the Great War of the 2070s. There, he meets Mumbi, a free-spirited actress who is soon to marry a local prince. After she challenges Kuvi to make his documentary entirely without AI, he struggles to find his artistic voice. As they search together for beauty within a broken world, an intimate love triangle unfolds.
Met een klein team maakte de Zwitsers-Keniaanse regisseur Damien Hauser een mix van sciencefiction, mockumentary en romantisch drama over creativiteit, technologie en de toekomst van cinema. Memory of Princess Mumbi ging als een van de eerste Keniaanse films ooit in première in de sectie Giornate degli Autori op het 82e filmfestival van Venetië.
