La Grazia
Mariano De Santis is bijna op het einde van zijn laatste termijn als president. Hoewel hij geliefd is, wordt hem door sommigen een zekere afzijdigheid verweten. Zo blijft hij het goedkeuren van een wetsvoorstel rond euthanasie voor zich uitschuiven - liefst rechtstreeks in de handen van zijn opvolger. Terwijl vraagt hij zich af wat zijn nalatenschap zal zijn - als president, én als mens -, droomt hij over zijn overleden vrouw, probeert hij connectie te zoeken met zijn kinderen, en begint hij te beseffen dat hij één grote laatste troef in handen heeft - het verlenen van gratie.

Mariano De Santis is nearing the end of his final term as president. Although he is well-liked, some accuse him of a certain aloofness. For example, he keeps postponing the approval of a bill on euthanasia, preferring to leave it directly in the hands of his successor. While wondering what his legacy will be—as president and as a person—he dreams about his deceased wife, tries to connect with his children, and begins to realize that he has one last trump card up his sleeve: the power to grant pardons.

Mariano De Santis è quasi alla fine del suo ultimo mandato come presidente. Sebbene sia molto amato, alcuni lo accusano di una certa freddezza. Continua infatti a rimandare l'approvazione di una proposta di legge sull'eutanasia. Mentre si interroga su quale sarà la sua eredità, sia come presidente che come persona, sogna la moglie defunta, cerca di stabilire un contatto con i figli e comincia a rendersi conto di avere un'ultima grande carta da giocare: la concessione della grazia.

Paolo Sorrentino (Parthenope) en acteur Toni Servillo (Il Divo) sloegen de handen al vaker met succes in elkaar, en met La Grazia bewijzen ze dat hun hoogtijdagen als duo nog niet voorbij zijn. Servillo won voor zijn rol als gepijnigde Italiaanse president in Venetië zelfs nog de prijs voor Beste Acteur. Verwacht naast steengoed acteerwerk vooral weer veel schoonheid, mooie Italiaanse locaties, intellectuele diepgang, interessante muzikale invloeden, humor, sensualiteit en liefde, overgoten met een diep melancholisch en weemoedig sausje. Het is te hopen voor de filmwereld dat Sorrentino nog lang films blijft maken, maar anders dient dit bijna als de perfecte synthese van zijn hele oeuvre.
