Almut en Tobias zijn al jarenlang een onafscheidelijk duo. Na een wonderlijke eerste ontmoeting en liefde op het eerste gezicht, trotseren ze nadien samen de hoge en lage punten van het leven, de kleine en grote momenten, de gelukzalige en onaangename. Van kalverliefde tot samenwonen en de geboorte van hun dochtertje. Hun hele leven komt op losse schroeven te staan wanneer ze te horen krijgen dat Almut ernstig ziek is. Hun tijd samen tikt langzaam maar zeker weg, en het jonge koppel moet leren om hun kleine gelukjes des te harder te appreciëren, voordat het niet meer kan.

Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) en Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Oppenheimer) schitteren zoals nooit tevoren in deze ambitieuze en ontroerende romantische film, die alle emoties, facetten en mijlpalen etaleert die komen kijken bij een relatie, in al hun glorie maar ook in hun dagdagelijkse kleinheid. Het verhaal overspant meer dan een decennium in tijd en verleent op die manier veel ruimte aan het duo Garfield-Pugh om alles uit de kast te halen en diep in zichzelf te graven. We Live in Time schaart zich met gemak in het rijtje van de grootste romantische toppers, in de eerste plaats door haar perfect op elkaar ingespeelde cast, maar ook door zich met overgave te wentelen in alle melancholie, verdriet, pijn, blijdschap en liefde dat het leven te bieden heeft, en met een eerlijke maar toch gevoelige blik naar alle fases van een relatie te kijken.

Almut and Tobias have been an inseparable duo for years. Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) and Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Oppenheimer) shine like never before in this ambitious and moving romantic film, which showcases all the emotions, facets and milestones that come with a relationship, in all its glory but also in its day-to-day smallness. The story spans more than a decade in time, thus granting plenty of room for the Garfield-Pugh duo to pull out all the stops and dig deep within themselves. We Live in Time easily joins the ranks of the greatest romantic toppers, primarily due to its perfectly matched cast, but also by wallowing in all the melancholy, sadness, pain, joy and love that life has to offer, and looking at all stages of a relationship with an honest yet sensitive eye.
