61 jaar na zijn moord keert Patrice Lumumba terug naar de Democratische Republiek Congo. Of, zoals één van zijn kinderen het uitdrukte, Congo keert terug naar Congo. Eerste minister Lumumba werd samen met twee van zijn ministers Okito en Mpolo vermoord, midden in de Koude Oorlog en tijdens de golf van Afrikaanse onafhankelijkheden. Die misdaad is tot nu toe onbestraft gebleven. Slechts één tand schijnt de zuurbehandeling van hun lichamen door een Belgische politieagent te hebben overleefd. Deze film vertelt het verhaal van de zeer gepolitiseerde festiviteiten rond de teruggave van Lumumba's stoffelijke resten, maar probeert vooral te achterhalen wat er van Patrice Lumumba is overgebleven, in Congo en in België.
61 years after his assassination, Patrice Lumumba is returning to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Or, as one of his children put it, Congo returns to Congo. Prime Minister Lumumba was assassinated along with two of his ministers Okito and Mpolo, in the midst of the Cold War and during the wave of African independence. This crime has so far gone unpunished. Only one tooth seems to have survived the acid treatment of their bodies by a Belgian policeman. This film tells the story of the highly politicized festivities surrounding the return of Lumumba's remains, but above all it tries to find out what remains of Patrice Lumumba, in Congo and in Belgium.
